The Deputy Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Abiodun Fadeyi, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the lingering internal crisis within the state’s ruling party.
Fadeyi, who represents Ona Ara State Constituency in the Assembly, conveyed his decision in a resignation letter addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward Eight in Ona Ara Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The resignation letter, which surfaced on Friday, stated that the lawmaker was leaving the party due to unresolved disputes and instability within its ranks.
According to him, the prolonged crisis in the PDP informed his decision to seek another political platform to advance his political ambitions.
“I wish to write to inform you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to the lingering and unresolved internal crisis rocking the party,” the letter read.
The deputy speaker also requested that his details be removed entirely from the party’s records and online platforms.
“Kindly delete my record and information from the party register and website completely. This is to allow me complete and advance my political interest on another platform,” he stated.
Fadeyi, however, expressed appreciation to the PDP for the opportunities he enjoyed while serving under the party.
“I sincerely appreciate and am grateful for everything I have been able to achieve with the party,” he added.
His resignation adds to the growing list of defections and internal disagreements that have continued to affect the PDP across different states ahead of future political contests.
