Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the 2027 election and currently representing Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has donated a brand-new Toyota Camry to Mrs. Rachael Folake Alamu, the Principal of Community High School, Esiele, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, in recognition of her resilience following her abduction by kidnappers earlier this year.
The gesture came shortly after Mrs. Alamu regained her freedom alongside other teachers and pupils who were kidnapped during coordinated attacks on Community High School, Esiele, and Yawota Baptist Nursery and Primary School in May.
According to a report by OyoInsight, the senator presented the vehicle as a mark of appreciation for the principal’s courage and steadfastness throughout the traumatic ordeal.
While in captivity, Mrs. Alamu was reportedly forced by the abductors to appear in several videos used to communicate with the outside world as negotiations for the victims’ release continued.
Speaking during the presentation, Senator Alli praised the school principal for remaining composed and committed to the welfare of the abducted pupils despite the harsh conditions she endured.
He described the donation as a symbol of solidarity with victims of insecurity and expressed hope that the vehicle would contribute to Mrs. Alamu’s recovery and help her rebuild her life after the traumatic experience.
The lawmaker said the gesture was intended to honour the principal’s bravery and acknowledge the sacrifices made by teachers who continue to serve their communities despite growing security challenges.
The donation has drawn commendation from residents and stakeholders in Oriire Local Government Area, many of whom described it as a thoughtful intervention that recognises the dedication and sacrifices of educators working under difficult circumstances.
Mrs. Alamu and the other abducted teachers and pupils eventually regained their freedom after spending several weeks in captivity, ending an ordeal that had sparked widespread concern across Oyo State and brought relief to their families and the Oriire community.
