The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Osun State election, Bola Oyebamiji, has expressed confidence that voters in the state will make history by electing him governor on August 15, 2026.
Oyebamiji made the declaration during a meeting with leaders and members of the Association of Mobile Telecommunication Engineers of Nigeria (AMTEN), Osun State chapter, held in Osogbo.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the APC candidate was represented at the event by the Chairman of Civic Engagement of the APC Campaign Council, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.
Addressing the gathering, Oyebamiji said the election would mark a turning point for the state as he pledged to return Osun to what he described as the “progressive path”.
“History will be made on August 15 as I will be elected governor of the state. I am confident and hopeful in God and in you that it will be my day.
“History will also be made as Osun returns to the progressive path, and I count on you to make that happen,” he said.
The APC flagbearer said he was prepared to provide purposeful leadership and deliver the dividends of democracy to residents, stressing that governance requires seriousness and commitment.
He explained that his administration would prioritise policies targeted at improving the welfare of the people through economic empowerment, healthcare delivery, quality education, and social protection programmes.
Oyebamiji added that his government would also focus on expanding social safety nets to reduce poverty across the state.
Speaking further, he said his administration would create opportunities for economic growth by supporting small and medium-scale enterprises while also encouraging the expansion of larger businesses through funding, infrastructure development, and capacity-building initiatives.
The APC candidate assured members of the telecommunications engineers’ association that their profession would receive adequate support under his administration, noting the critical role mobile telecommunications engineers play in economic and business development.
He also unveiled plans to implement his policy blueprint, codenamed “PROSPER,” which he said is designed to improve the standard of living of residents across Osun State.
Oyebamiji urged residents to ignore what he described as campaigns of calumny against him, maintaining that his background and public service record reflect a commitment to humanity and societal development.
Commending the association for its support for the APC, he promised that their confidence in him would be rewarded with transparent and effective governance.
“Vote for me and let us make history together. Your support will be rewarded through good governance.
“I will not disappoint you. Rather, I will deliver outcomes that future generations will be proud of,” he added.
Earlier, the president of the association, Abdulrasaki Ejalonibu, assured the APC candidate of members’ support during the election.
Ejalonibu said members appreciated the recognition accorded to them by the APC candidate, adding that the immediate past APC administration in the state under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, now Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, had been supportive of their activities.
He, however, urged Oyebamiji to fulfil his campaign promises if elected governor.
“We assure you of our votes. Trust us, we will not betray you; do not betray us as well,” he said.
The Osun State governorship election is scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026, with Oyebamiji expected to face incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
