Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 20-year-old man, Oyeleye Moshood, over an alleged burglary at Al-Lateef Group of Schools in Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

Moshood, who resides around Anuoluwapo Street, off Olomu, Ifo, allegedly broke into the school at 75 Bibire Community, off Olomu, where he removed sliding windows, electrical wires, two ceiling fans and metal fittings.

The incident came to light at about 9pm on September 23, 2026, after the school’s security guard contacted the proprietor, Animasaun Jelili, over suspicious activity on the premises.

According to the So-Safe Corps, the guard became suspicious after discovering that the school gate had been locked from inside, which he considered unusual at that time of the night.

When he attempted to gain access to the premises, the guard reportedly noticed that someone was inside the school. The intruder allegedly fled after hearing footsteps, leaving his jalabia behind.

Jelili subsequently reported the incident to the So-Safe Corps’ Ifo Zonal Command, prompting operatives to begin a search for the suspect.

So-Safe Corps said its operatives used the abandoned clothing and information gathered from residents in the surrounding neighbourhood to trace the suspect.

The search eventually led them to Moshood, who lived close to the school. He allegedly attempted to escape again after realising that the operatives were closing in but was overpowered and arrested.

The Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Adegunwa Adegbuyi, in Abeokuta.

Ganzallo said the proprietor had also reported that the school had experienced repeated incidents of burglary and theft, with such cases reportedly becoming more frequent since January 2026.

However, details of the previous incidents, including the number of times the school had been burgled and whether any suspects had previously been arrested, were not immediately disclosed.

The latest arrest therefore comes amid concerns over repeated theft at the school, although the So-Safe Corps has not established any connection between Moshood and the earlier incidents.

The suspect and the items recovered from him have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Ifo Divisional Headquarters, for further investigation and appropriate legal action.
