The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man identified as Kehinde Makinde, popularly known as “Pastor Kenny”, over an alleged N2.5 million fraud involving 18 fellowship members in the state.
Makinde was arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a four-month surveillance and investigation into allegations of fraudulent activities carried out under the guise of spiritual deliverance.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly collected approximately N2.5 million from 18 fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, Ogun State, after claiming that he was organising a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
He allegedly promised each of the members N2 million in connection with the purported pilgrimage.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed the arrest in a statement made available to journalists on Monday.
Babaseyi said detectives attached to the Obantoko Division arrested Makinde at about 4:45 p.m. on August 3, 2026, after months of intelligence gathering and discreet investigation.
He said investigations showed that the suspect allegedly manipulated unsuspecting victims in Ogun, Oyo and Osun states while presenting himself as a spiritual deliverance minister.
“Following four months of sustained intelligence gathering and discreet investigation, detectives attached to the Obantoko Division, on 3rd August 2026, at about 1645hrs, arrested Kehinde Makinde ‘M’, popularly known as ‘Pastor Kenny’, in Ibadan, Oyo State,” Babaseyi stated.
He added that the arrest followed investigations into allegations that Makinde had fraudulently manipulated victims under the guise of spiritual deliverance across the three states.
The police spokesperson said preliminary investigation had further established that the suspect allegedly obtained about N2.5 million from the 18 fellowship members in Saje, Adatan, through the purported Jerusalem pilgrimage arrangement.
Makinde remains in police custody as detectives continue investigations to determine the full extent of the alleged fraud, identify other victims and apprehend suspected accomplices.
The police did not disclose the identity of any alleged accomplices or indicate whether the suspect had made any statement concerning the allegations against him.
