A Lagos Federal High Court has acquitted socialite Mike Nwalie, popularly known as Pretty Mike, and his club supervisor, Joachim Hillary, of drug-related charges.

The court upheld their no-case submission, ruling that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against them.

Justice Ambrose Lewis-Allagoa noted that the evidence presented by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) raised mere suspicion, insufficient to warrant a criminal conviction.

Pretty Mike, owner of Proxy Lagos nightclub, and Hillary were initially charged with conspiracy, unlawful possession of hard drugs, and knowingly permitting drug use on their premises.

The NDLEA alleged they found 169 cylinders of nitrous oxide and cannabis sativa during a raid.

However, the defense argued that the prosecution failed to link the defendants to the substances.

In his ruling, Justice Lewis-Allagoa agreed that the prosecution’s case lacked credibility and was inconsistent.

He dismissed the case, stating that requiring the defendants to enter a defense would be mere speculation.
