The Governing Council of Mufutau Lanihun College of Education (MULCOED), Ibadan, has suspended four top principal officers of the institution following revelations of fraudulent issuance of NCE certificates to individuals who never attended the College.
In a letter signed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Professor Taslim Ayobami Hammed, and addressed to the Honourable Minister of Education, the Council expressed deep concern over the incident, describing it as “shameful” and a result of “an inordinate craving for filthy lucre.”
The Council noted that the staff involved acted independently without the knowledge of the proprietor or the Council itself. Those suspended with immediate effect include: Lawal Musiliu Ayodele (provost), Adebolu Sirajudeen (registrar), Akanji Abdulrasak (bursar) and Jimoh Malik (admission officer)
According to the letter dated July 1, 2025, the suspension is pending a disciplinary process. The Governing Council also resolved to initiate a thorough audit of the College’s activities through a Visitation Panel, and pledged full cooperation with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the Nigerian Police Force (Oyo State Command), and other relevant security agencies in the ongoing investigation.
“The Council would like to state, without any doubt, that Mufutau Lanihun College of Education, Ibadan (MULCOED), is ethically well-grounded, such that the tradition of academic excellence it has cultivated over the years remains well-guarded and untarnished,” the letter stated.
The Council also reassured parents, guardians, and the general public of its unwavering commitment to academic excellence and sound moral character.
