The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State.

The figure represents 81.50 percent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state, according to Mohammed Haruna, chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee.

Haruna disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, a day before the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

According to the commission, 432,843 PVCs remain uncollected, representing 18.50 percent of the total number of registered voters in Osun.

INEC said the uncollected cards have been deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

The commission also disclosed that some registered voters whose PVCs were damaged, defaced or lost had applied for replacement cards.

“Similarly, it should be noted that some persons with damaged, defaced, or lost PVCs applied for replacement of their cards. A total of 6,101 among those who applied printed downloadable copies of their PVCs,” Haruna said.

The electoral body added that it has published a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of the collected PVCs on its official website.

INEC urged stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organisations and the media, to note the figures as preparations intensify for the election.

The commission also reiterated its readiness to conduct what it described as a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive election across Osun State.

“The commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, media, and the good people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, 15th August 2026,” the statement added.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, August 15, with registered voters expected to exercise their franchise at designated polling units across the state.
