A former First Lady of Oyo State and ambassador-designate to Austria, Florence Ajimobi, has strongly denied allegations linking her to a scheme to induce lawmakers to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde.

In a statement released by her media office, Ajimobi characterised the claims as “entirely false, baseless, and a deliberate act of disinformation.”

She argued that the allegations were a calculated attempt to tarnish her reputation and mislead the public.

Ajimobi specifically refuted reports suggesting she hosted or attended meetings in Lagos or other locations to discuss the destabilisation of the state government.

The former First Lady stated that she has not convened or participated in any discussions aimed at facilitating an impeachment process.

According to her, the accusations are politically motivated and intended as “character assassination”.

She further clarified that she has no involvement in the activities of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) within Oyo State, noting that her current focus remains on her humanitarian and professional responsibilities.

The statement also noted that other members of the Oyo State House of Assembly, including Hon. Gbenga Oyekola and Deputy Speaker Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi, have similarly denied any participation in an impeachment plot or the receipt of political inducements.

Ajimobi urged the public to disregard the reports, emphasising her commitment to the peace and stability of the state.

She warned that the continued dissemination of false information could lead to legal action and reiterated her dedication to public service.
