The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has inaugurated a campaign council of over 800 members ahead of the 2026 governorship election, signaling an early push to reclaim power from incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke.
At the inauguration held in Osogbo, the campaign’s Director General, Oluwole Oke, declared that the party’s candidate, Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, would defeat Adeleke on election day.
Oke said the council was “irrevocably committed” to unseating the current administration, insisting that removing Adeleke was “non-negotiable.” He added that the APC had already begun extensive grassroots mobilization since announcing the campaign structure.
The party had earlier named Oke, a five-term member of the House of Representatives, as Director General of the council. Other key appointments include Prince Adebayo Adeleke as Director General for Osun Central, Prince Dotun Babayemi for Osun West, and Prince Thomas Ogungbangbe for Osun East.
The campaign council is structured into multiple committees covering peace and conflict resolution, mobilization, media and publicity, youth engagement, diaspora relations, legal affairs, research, and strategy, among others. Prominent figures across these committees include Senator Adenigba Fadahunsi, Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun (retd.), Engr. Remi Omowaiye, and Mrs. Funke Egbemode.
Speaking at the event, Oke criticized the Adeleke administration’s management of state resources, alleging widespread mismanagement and declining public services across sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and mining.
He accused the government of failing to meet the expectations of residents, stating that issues like deteriorating school infrastructure and insufficient staffing in public institutions reflect broader governance challenges.
“The government has failed the people of Osun on all fronts,” Oke said, adding that the APC would introduce policies aimed at improving welfare, creating jobs, reducing poverty, and restoring what he described as the state’s lost glory.
Reaffirming the party’s confidence, Oke declared that Oyebamiji would emerge victorious and be declared the duly elected governor at the conclusion of the August 15, 2026 election.
