The Ondo State Government is set to establish a dedicated youth call centre to create a direct communication channel between government and young people across the state.

Known as the Ondo State Youth Call Centre, the initiative will give youths in the state’s 18 Local Government Areas a platform to make enquiries, seek information, report challenges, and communicate directly with relevant government authorities.

Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on Youth and Social Inclusion, Henry Okunomo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to Okunomo, the centre will help young people find information on employment and empowerment opportunities, submit complaints, access government interventions, and raise concerns that require official attention.

He said the initiative would also promote youth participation in governance and strengthen social inclusion, particularly by improving access to government services and opportunities for young people in underserved and riverine communities.

“The initiative will also promote youth participation in governance, strengthen social inclusion, facilitate access to educational and entrepreneurial opportunities and ensure that the voices of young people, particularly those in underserved and riverine communities, are heard and appropriately addressed,” the statement said.

Okunomo said the platform was conceived to bridge the communication gap between the government and young people while creating a structured system for identifying, documenting and responding to issues affecting youths.

The centre will also serve as a referral mechanism, directing enquiries and complaints to relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) for appropriate action.

According to the statement, the initiative reflects the state government’s approach of viewing young people not only as beneficiaries of public policies but also as stakeholders in governance, development and social transformation.

“The youth call centre meets the 21st century rapid response and synergy required for youth and social inclusion,” Okunomo said.

He added that details concerning the official launch of the centre, its operational arrangements and communication channels would be announced by the government in due course.

The proposed call centre is expected to provide a more structured avenue for Ondo youths to engage with government, particularly those who may face difficulties accessing government offices or obtaining information about available programmes and interventions.
