The Judicial Commission of Enquiry established by the Oyo State Government to investigate the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has invited members of the public to submit memoranda containing information that could assist its investigation.
The Commission, in a public notice signed by its Secretary, Olamide Sandra Tella, urged individuals and organisations with relevant facts, evidence or materials relating to the incident to make written submissions before the stipulated deadline.
According to the notice, the panel is interested in receiving memoranda detailing the circumstances that led to the abduction, events surrounding the incident, and subsequent developments.
It also requested information on the security situation before, during and after the abduction, as well as any acts, omissions or other circumstances that may have contributed to the incident.
The Commission further called for submissions on the responses of relevant authorities, institutions, communities and individuals, alongside practical recommendations that could help prevent similar incidents in the future.
The notice stated that all memoranda must include the full names and contact details of the contributors, with supporting documents or other relevant materials attached where applicable.
It directed that submissions be addressed to the Secretary, Judicial Commission of Enquiry into the Abduction of Students and Teachers in Esinele and Yawota Communities, Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State.
Interested persons may submit their memoranda physically at the Commission’s Secretariat, Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, or electronically through [email protected].
The Commission fixed August 14, 2026, as the deadline for the submission of memoranda.
Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated the Judicial Commission of Enquiry on July 31, 2026, to investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ahoro Esinele and Yawota communities in Oriire Local Government Area.
The panel is expected to establish the facts surrounding the incident, assess the response of relevant authorities, and recommend measures aimed at preventing a recurrence of similar attacks.
