The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has launched a reconciliation drive aimed at resolving internal grievances arising from its recent congresses and primary elections, with party leaders pledging that no aggrieved aspirant will be sidelined as preparations intensify for the 2027 general elections.
The assurance was given on Wednesday by Senator Olufemi Lanlehin and Professor Taoreed Adedoja after they were inaugurated as Chairman and Co-chairman, respectively, of the Oyo APC Reconciliation Committee.
In their acceptance speeches, both leaders commended the state executive of the party, led by Moses Adeyemo, for establishing the committee, describing the move as timely and necessary to strengthen party cohesion ahead of the next electoral cycle.
They pledged to ensure that all concerns and complaints raised by party members and stakeholders receive adequate attention, stressing that the reconciliation process would be inclusive.
According to them, the committee is committed to bringing every aggrieved member on board to position the APC for victory in the 2027 elections.
Earlier, Adeyemo charged members of the committee to deploy their experience, goodwill and leadership qualities to address disputes that emerged from the party’s ward, local government and state congresses, as well as the recently concluded primaries.
He acknowledged that the exercises had generated dissatisfaction among some members but expressed confidence that dialogue and genuine reconciliation would prevent the disagreements from escalating into divisions capable of weakening the party’s electoral prospects.
“We recognise that the recent congresses and primaries created grievances among some stakeholders. However, we are determined to engage everyone concerned and find lasting solutions that will strengthen our party,” he said.
The APC chairman expressed optimism that the committee would complete its assignment within the next few weeks, adding that the party’s objective was to restore unity before the commencement of campaigns for the 2027 general elections.
Adeyemo also declared that the APC remained the dominant political force in the country but warned against complacency, saying the party was focused on securing overwhelming support for President Bola Tinubu and reclaiming the Oyo State Government House in Agodi.
“Our goal is to ensure absolute peace and unity within the party before, during and after the elections. We are working towards delivering one million votes for President Bola Tinubu while also returning the APC to the Agodi Government House,” he added.
Other members of the reconciliation committee include Senators Brimo Yusuf and Hosea Agboola, Chief Akin Oke, Mrs Kemi Alao-Akala, Hon. Niran Alarape, Hon. Olagunju Ojo, Dr. Adebayo Adewusi, Pa Timothy Jolaoso, Alhaji Abu Gbadamosi, Engr. Idris Adeoye, Alhaji Isiaka Alimi, Aare Abisoye Fagade, Dr. Adekemi Opatunde, Engr.
