Governor Seyi Makinde has approved a 24-hour extension of the curfew earlier imposed on 10 local government areas in Oyo State bordering the Old Oyo National Park.
The extension was announced on Thursday in a memo issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde.
The state government had initially imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on June 23, 2026, restricting movement between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. in the affected areas for an initial period of 48 hours.
With the latest directive, the curfew will remain in force until Saturday, June 27, 2026.
According to the government, the measure affects local government areas located around the Old Oyo National Park and is part of efforts to maintain security and public order in the region.
The affected local government areas are Oriire, Orelope, Irepo, Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo, Itesiwaju, Iseyin, Olorunsogo and Atiba.
The headquarters of the affected councils are Ikoyi-Ile (Oriire), Igboho (Orelope), Kisi (Irepo), Saki (Saki West), Ago-Amodu (Saki East), Tede/Ago-Are (Atisbo), Otu (Itesiwaju), Iseyin (Iseyin), Igbeti (Olorunsogo) and Offa-Meta, Oyo (Atiba).
The announcement was conveyed in a statement signed by the governor’s special adviser on media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, on June 25, 2026.
Residents of the affected areas are expected to continue complying with the restrictions throughout the extended period.
