Preparations have been concluded for the visit of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, to Ado-Ekiti on Saturday for a one-day working visit expected to feature project inaugurations, political engagements and meetings with traditional rulers.
Senator Tinubu, who also serves as the National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), is expected to arrive in the Ekiti State capital alongside the Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, wives of governors and other senior government officials.
The First Lady will be received by Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, and top government functionaries.
A major highlight of the visit will be the inauguration of a newly constructed Information and Communication Technology Centre at Ekiti State University.
The facility was facilitated through the Renewed Hope Initiative as part of efforts to strengthen digital learning and technological development in the state.
Senator Tinubu is also scheduled to meet with monarchs under the umbrella of the Ekiti State Traditional Rulers’ Council during the visit.
In the political segment of the engagement, the First Lady will officially flag off the All Progressives Congress women’s campaign rally in support of Governor Oyebanji’s re-election bid. The rally is billed to hold at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti.
Since 2023, the Renewed Hope Initiative has carried out several intervention programmes in Ekiti State, focusing on women empowerment, youth support, educational assistance, agriculture, small businesses and welfare support for vulnerable groups and persons living with disabilities.
Ahead of the visit, Ekiti State First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, inspected strategic venues, including the Ekiti Airport, the Ekiti State University campus and the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion to assess the level of preparedness.
She expressed confidence that the visit would leave a lasting impact on the state and further strengthen ongoing developmental and empowerment initiatives.
