The lawmaker representing Osun Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Olubiyi Fadeyi, has dismissed fears of a possible crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC) following the party’s senatorial primary election in Osun State.

Fadeyi, who lost the APC senatorial ticket for the 2027 general elections to Adekunle Adegoke on Monday, urged party members to remain united and support President Bola Tinubu ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

In a statement obtained in Osogbo on Friday, the senator stressed the importance of loyalty, unity and collective responsibility among APC stakeholders, noting that the party’s strength lies in its ability to remain united during critical political periods.

Fadeyi’s defeat made him the only one among the five lawmakers elected on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, but who defected to the APC in 2025, to fail in securing a re-election ticket under the ruling party.

The lawmaker described Tinubu as “a visionary leader whose commitment to national development, democratic values, and progressive governance has continued to inspire confidence across the country.”

According to him, supporting the president’s candidacy during the APC presidential primary is both a strategic political move and a reaffirmation of the party’s long-term vision.

“Now is the time to demonstrate our loyalty to the party and our belief in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. I call on all APC faithful to stand firm, remain committed, and support his candidacy for the progress and stability of our great nation,” Fadeyi stated.

He also expressed optimism that the APC would emerge stronger and more united after the primary election, positioning itself to continue delivering on its promises to Nigerians.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Francis Fadahunsi, secured the APC ticket for the 2027 elections.

Fadahunsi, who currently chairs the Senate Committee on Industry, was first elected into the Senate in 2019 on the platform of the PDP and re-elected in 2023 before defecting to the APC in 2025 alongside four other PDP lawmakers.

Announcing the primary results in a circulated video, the chairman of the Osun APC Primary Election Committee, Bayo Ayo, said Fadahunsi polled 23,593 votes to defeat his opponents, Famurewa Israel and Thomas Ogungbangbe, who scored 472 and 806 votes respectively.

In Osun Central, Adegoke defeated Fadeyi to clinch the APC senatorial ticket for the 2027 poll.
