The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled the third and final phase of its nationwide Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise to begin on Monday, May 11, 2026.
The registration period is slated to conclude on Friday, July 10, 2026.
This follows the suspension of the second phase on April 17, 2026, which allowed the commission to clean up the voter register following its publication for claims and objections.
Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, stated that the upcoming phase offers a critical window for eligible citizens.
He encouraged those who have recently turned 18, as well as individuals who missed previous registration windows, to take advantage of the opportunity.
Beyond new registrations, INEC is directing voters to its dedicated online portal for essential administrative updates.
Citizens can use the portal to transfer their registration, correct biodata, or replace lost or damaged Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
To ensure the integrity of the electoral process, the commission will display the Register of Voters for public scrutiny from July 23 to July 29, 2026.
This statutory period allows citizens to review the register to help ensure its accuracy, completeness, and credibility.
INEC confirmed that all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth exercise.
It appealed to all eligible Nigerians to participate in the process to help strengthen the nation’s electoral foundation.
