A former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, has formally announced his intention to contest the state’s top office again in the 2027 general elections.
Adebutu disclosed that he would seek the governorship on the platform of the PDP, reaffirming his loyalty to the party and its principles.
His declaration was contained in a letter dated April 30, 2026, and made public on Friday by his media aide, Afolabi Orekoya.
The correspondence was addressed to the Ogun State chairman of the PDP through the party leadership in Odogbolu Local Government Area.
In the letter, Adebutu stated that, as a registered member of Ward 4 in Odogbolu Local Government, he was formally notifying the party’s State Working Committee of his intention to contest the governorship seat.
He emphasised his commitment to due process within the party, noting that he would adhere strictly to the PDP constitution and guidelines throughout his political journey toward the 2027 elections.
“As a law-abiding citizen and loyal member of the party, I shall continue to abide by the provisions of our party constitution and the outlined processes of the party on this journey that will eventually lead to the victory of our party in the coming general elections,” he said.
The PDP stalwart further reiterated his readiness to provide what he described as purposeful leadership for the people of Ogun State, while pledging continued service to both the party and the electorate.
Adebutu also urged party stakeholders to maintain unity and cohesion, stressing that internal stability would be crucial to securing electoral victory in 2027.
He expressed willingness to work with all factions within the PDP to achieve a common political objective.
