The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered multiple stolen vehicles, alongside a fabricated firearm, in a series of intelligence-driven operations targeting criminal networks across the state.

The suspects, identified as Hammed Olarewaju, Adedokun Ayinde, and Adedokun Adewusi, were apprehended following coordinated investigations into reported vehicle thefts in Ogun and neighbouring states.

Confirming the development on Friday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed that the breakthrough was recorded after operatives intercepted Olarewaju in possession of a suspicious vehicle number plate, prompting further investigations.

He explained that the arrest led to the capture of Ayinde, who is believed to be the leader of a robbery syndicate operating in the region.

During the operation, detectives recovered a Toyota Sienna previously reported stolen, as well as a locally fabricated pistol allegedly used in carrying out criminal activities.

In a related operation, a Toyota Corolla stolen from Ilaro was tracked to Ibadan, where it was recovered from a suspect identified as Arowolo Taoreed.

Further investigations also led to the arrest of Adewusi in connection with another armed robbery case.

Authorities linked him to a stolen 2017 Lexus RX 350 F-Sport, which was traced to Abuja.

A second firearm was later recovered in Ajah, Lagos, and is believed to be connected to the same criminal syndicate.

Preliminary findings by the police indicate that the suspects are members of a well-coordinated network responsible for vehicle theft and armed robbery operations spanning Ogun State and adjoining regions.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives for their professionalism and swift response in dismantling the syndicate.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and the ongoing fight against violent crime, assuring residents that efforts were underway to apprehend other fleeing members of the group and recover additional stolen vehicles.

The police also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.
