The Osun State Police Command has appealed to the public for assistance in identifying and locating the family of a 70-year-old woman discovered wandering within the state.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, disclosed this in a notice issued to journalists on Monday, highlighting efforts to reunite the elderly woman with her relatives.
According to the statement, the woman, who identified herself as Shifawu Alabi, was found on April 24, 2026, around Tiwadayo Street in the Ofatedo area.
She was subsequently taken to the police by a concerned Good Samaritan.
Police authorities said that during preliminary questioning, the woman stated that she is from the Oja-Oba area in Ibadan but was unable to provide clear details regarding her movement or destination at the time she was found.
“She could not give any satisfactory account of where she was going or coming from,” the statement noted, raising concerns about her well-being and possible disorientation.
The police command has since urged members of the public, particularly residents who may have information about her identity or family background, to come forward to assist in reconnecting her with her loved ones.
The appeal underscores the growing importance of community cooperation in addressing cases involving missing or vulnerable individuals.
