Detectives from the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 22-year-old woman and recovered a suspected stolen Suzuki minibus in Omu-Ijebu.
The suspect, identified as Azeez Khadijat, was apprehended Sunday afternoon while attempting to repaint the vehicle to conceal its identity.
According to state police spokesman DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, officers received intelligence about three men and one woman spotted on Ikhasi Road in Kajola.
The group was reportedly using a bush area to illegally repaint the “Korope” minibus from its original yellow to white and blue.
“Acting swiftly on the intelligence, detectives mobilised to the scene,” Babaseyi said in a statement released Tuesday.
He noted that while three accomplices fled the scene upon seeing the operatives, Khadijat was discovered hiding inside the abandoned vehicle.
Police recovered a Lagos State registration plate, three mobile phones, a power bank, and various painting supplies at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest the minibus was used to commit crimes in Lagos State before the suspects attempted to evade detection by altering its appearance.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni commended the officers’ rapid response and assured the public that all fleeing accomplices would be brought to justice.
In a separate operation on Monday, the command arrested three suspects in the Mowe and Sagamu axis and recovered locally made firearms and items linked to criminal activities.
