The Ondo State Police Command has rescued a kidnap victim and apprehended a suspect in Isua Akoko following a physical struggle during the abduction.

The incident occurred when three men reportedly abducted the victim while he was on a farm.

During the struggle, the victim managed to resist his captors, inflicting a head injury on one of the suspects before being taken.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the operation was launched following a report from an individual named Ahmadu.

The report stated that two young men had travelled to Ipesi Akoko for cattle rearing, but one of them failed to return home.

In response, officers from the Isua Division conducted an intelligence-driven operation. At approximately 6:09 a.m., operatives stormed Obasanjo Motor Park in Isua, where they intercepted a suspicious individual displaying a visible head injury.

The suspect has reportedly confessed to being a member of the kidnapping gang. The victim successfully identified the suspect, specifically noting the injury sustained during the fight.

While the victim has been hospitalised for medical attention, the suspect has been transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit for further investigation.

In a related development, residents of the Imoga Community in Akoko Edo Local Government Area arrested a suspected kidnap kingpin, Ismaila Ibrahim.

The suspect was identified by Mallam Jamilu, a cow dealer from Ibillo, who had escaped captivity.

Bode Ekundayo, National Coordinator of the Movement for the Advancement of Akoko Edo People, confirmed that the arrest took place on Thursday.

He added that another individual has also been detained following a confessional statement.
