The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended 146 suspects during a massive, coordinated security crackdown in Sagamu.
The operation, titled “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” was launched to curb criminal activity and maintain public order within the region.
According to Ogun Police Public Relations Officer Oluseyi Babaseyi, the intelligence-led raid took place in the early hours of April 13, 2026.
He added that the mission targeted specific flashpoints where criminal elements had been identified as threats to public peace and safety.
The operation was a multi-agency effort led by the Sagamu Area Command.
Collaborating agencies included the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the Ogun State Community Security (So-Safe) Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria.
Babaseyi noted that the crackdown followed strategic engagements with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and various security heads to strengthen the local security architecture.
All suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in criminal activities.
Those found to be culpable, the PPRO noted, will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and legal action.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the inter-agency cooperation, describing the joint effort as a demonstration of professional discipline.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and sustained efforts to ensure peace across Ogun State.
The police command also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities through its official emergency lines.
