The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of its newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.

The deceased was among the state executive committee members elected by consensus during the Lagos APC congress held on Tuesday at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium in Onikan, Lagos where a new leadership team headed by the state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, was produced

Tragically, Yesiro died just hours before he was scheduled to be inaugurated alongside other members of the newly elected executive council at the Lagos APC Secretariat on Thursday.

The Lagos State chapter of the APC confirmed the development in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo, who described the incident as shocking and deeply painful to the party.

According to Oladejo, the party received the news of Yesiro’s passing with profound sadness, noting that the loss came at a time when his dedication and commitment to progressive politics were most needed.

“The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro,” the statement read.

“Yesiro’s passing is a painful and tragic loss to our great party at a time when his energy, commitment, and passion for progressive politics were most needed.”

Oladejo further stated that Yesiro had just been entrusted with a significant responsibility in the party’s state executive council and had demonstrated loyalty and dedication to the ideals of the APC.

The party also highlighted his role in strengthening the structure and stability of the APC in Lagos State, noting that his enthusiasm, humility and willingness to serve left a positive mark on party members and colleagues.

“Though his tenure was tragically cut short, his enthusiasm, humility, and readiness to serve left a lasting impression on colleagues and members alike,” the statement added.

Describing him as a vibrant party member, the Lagos APC said Yesiro would be remembered for his contributions to the party and his unwavering belief in the progressive cause.

“The Lagos APC stands united in mourning this painful departure. Hon. Karamo Yesiro will be remembered for his service, commitment, and belief in the progressive cause,” the statement concluded.
