Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has hinted strongly at his intention to contest the 2027 Lagos State governorship election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The indication emerged on Wednesday following the circulation of a campaign flyer uploaded by Adediran, boldly inscribed: “Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran Jandor for Governor, Lagos State 2027.” The flyer has since generated significant political discussion across social media platforms in the state.

Further fuelling speculation about his ambition, Adediran announced the launch of his campaign website in a Facebook post, describing the initiative as a major step in his preparation for the APC governorship primaries.

“I am excited to announce the official launch of the digital heartbeat of our journey towards the 2027 Lagos State APC Governorship Primaries,” he wrote.

According to him, the website is designed as more than a campaign tool, but as a platform for civic engagement and policy dialogue with Lagos residents.

“This isn’t just a website; it’s an open civic space. As I seek the nomination of our party, I’m opening the doors for every Lagosian to interrogate our ideas, contribute to our vision, and help shape the policy agenda for a more prosperous state,” Adediran stated.

While acknowledging that other aspirants may also be positioning themselves for the APC ticket, the former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, stressed that his immediate focus remains on party stakeholders and the people of Lagos State.

“While I acknowledge there may be other qualified aspirants within our party, who are yet to personally express their ambition, my focus remains on the leadership and members of the party as well as the people of Lagos,” he said.

Calling for collective participation in the governance process, Adediran urged Lagosians to engage actively with his campaign ideas.

“Real change is a shared responsibility. Visit the site today to see our roadmap for an inclusive Lagos and join the conversation. Let’s build the Lagos we all deserve,” he added.

Adediran was the PDP governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election, with Nollywood actress Funke Akindele as his running mate. He, however, lost the election, finishing third behind the APC and the Labour Party.

In March, Adediran officially returned to the APC after resigning from the PDP, citing indiscipline and widespread anti-party activities within the opposition party.

His defection sparked controversy, with the Lagos PDP Deputy Chairman, Tai Benedict, alleging that Adediran had been planted by the APC to destabilise the party from within – an accusation his camp has previously dismissed.

With the 2027 election cycle gradually taking shape, Adediran’s early moves signal what is expected to be an intensely competitive race for the Lagos governorship.
