The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the commencement of 16 undergraduate degree programmes at the University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, effective from the 2025/2026 academic session.
The approval was conveyed in a letter dated December 29, 2025, signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the NUC’s Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.
According to the commission, the university satisfied all stipulated requirements for the establishment of the programmes, with an aggregate admission quota of 800 students approved across the faculties.
“I am directed to convey to the Director-General the Executive Secretary’s approval for the establishment of the following programmes in University of Fortune, Igbotako, Ondo State, having satisfied the requirements for their establishment with effect from the 2025/2026 academic session. The admission quota is put at 800,” the letter stated.
The newly approved programmes span four faculties. Under the Faculty of Science and Computing, the institution will offer B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology, B.Sc. Computer Science, and B.Sc. Cyber Security.
The Faculty of Law received approval to commence the LL.B. Law programme.
In the Faculty of Basic Medical and Allied Health Sciences, the NUC approved B.Sc. Public Health, B.N.Sc. Nursing Science, and B.Rad. Radiology.
The Faculty of Social and Management Sciences will run B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Finance, B.Sc. Economics, B.Sc. International Relations, B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies, B.Sc. Hospitality and Tourism Management, B.Sc. Project Management, B.Sc. Procurement Management, and B.Sc. Intelligence and Security Studies.
The commission further requested the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to take note of the approvals for the purpose of candidates’ mobilisation and admissions processing.
NUC also assured the institution of continued regulatory support as it expands its academic offerings in line with national benchmarks and quality assurance standards.
