The United States government has revoked visas belonging to thousands of foreign nationals in a sweeping enforcement action targeting criminal and security-related offenses.
In a statement released on Thursday, the U.S. Department of State described the move as part of the Trump administration’s commitment to keeping Americans safe, calling it a case of “promises made, promises kept.”
The department said the decision reflects President Donald Trump’s pledge to prioritize “the safety and interests of the American people.”
According to the statement, the revocations covered individuals found guilty or involved in a range of offenses, including assault, theft, and driving under the influence (DUI). A total of 16,000 visas were revoked for DUI offenses, 12,000 for assault, and 8,000 for theft in 2025 alone.
The U.S. government also cited other grounds for visa cancellations, including terrorism, support for terrorist activities, public safety risks, and visa overstays.
The move underscores Washington’s strict stance on immigration control and its determination to ensure that foreign nationals residing or entering the country do not pose threats to national or community safety.
