President Bola Tinubu has directed the Renewed Hope Ambassadors to commence the nationwide distribution of rice to Nigerians observing the ongoing Ramadan and Lenten seasons.

The initiative, announced in a statement on Saturday by the Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors and governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, is designed to support families across the country during the period of fasting and spiritual reflection observed by both Muslims and Christians.

According to the statement, the programme will leverage the organisation’s grassroots network spread across states, local government areas and wards to ensure the relief reaches households nationwide.

Uzodimma explained that the intervention reflects the administration’s commitment to promoting national unity and demonstrating compassion during significant religious observances.

He noted that Ramadan and Lent are seasons that encourage sacrifice, charity and service to others, adding that the rice distribution is intended to strengthen solidarity among Nigerians regardless of religious affiliation.

This initiative reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to unity and compassion. Ramadan and Lent are seasons that remind us of sacrifice, charity and care for one another,” Uzodimma said.

Through this distribution, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors will ensure that families across Nigeria feel the spirit of togetherness during this sacred period.”

The Imo State governor further disclosed that the distribution process will be coordinated through the organisation’s established structures at the state, local government and ward levels to guarantee transparency and wide coverage.

According to him, the coordinators at various levels will supervise the process to ensure the intervention reaches communities across the federation.

The statement also recalled that a similar support initiative was carried out during the last Christmas season when rice was distributed to Nigerians celebrating the festive period.

Uzodimma said the continuation of the programme during Ramadan and Lent underscores what he described as the Tinubu administration’s consistent commitment to supporting citizens during important religious and cultural periods.

Both Muslim and Christian communities are expected to benefit from the intervention, which organisers say is aimed at reinforcing shared national values and fostering inclusivity during the fasting season.
