President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), on his birthday, commending his leadership and reform agenda at the nation’s revenue agency.
In a statement issued on Thursday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu praised Adedeji’s “sterling leadership” of the 83-year-old institution, citing the introduction of fresh ideas, the adoption of global best practices, extensive automation of systems, and deliberate upskilling of staff to improve efficiency and outcomes for the country.
“I salute the NRS Chairman for his visionary and charismatic dedication in restructuring, aligning and managing the revenue profile of the country,” Tinubu said. He added that Adedeji recorded a historic achievement by meeting budget targets in the third quarter of 2025, a performance the President said helped stimulate economic activity and support national prosperity.
Tinubu also credited Adedeji with playing a pivotal role in the adoption of the National Single Window, describing it as a transformative federal digital platform designed to streamline import and export processes, enhance transparency, and reduce cargo clearance timelines from 21 days to one week.
Before his current appointment, Adedeji built a diverse public and private sector career. He was as a senior member of Procter & Gamble’s management team, Commissioner of Finance for Oyo State, and Executive Secretary of the National Sugar Development Council, where he established the National Sugar Institute.
He later served as Special Adviser to the President on Revenue before his appointment as FIRS (now NRS) chairman in September 2023.
The President concluded by praying for God’s continued grace upon the revenue chief, asking for more years of good health, wisdom and strength in service to the nation.
