The Lagos State Government has rewarded 177 outstanding public servants with five brand new cars and a total cash reward of N165.5 million, reaffirming its commitment to excellence, diligence, and consistent service delivery within the public sector.
The rewards were presented by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the 2025 “Mr Governor’s Luncheon” held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja. The event brought together top-performing officers drawn from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Local Government Areas (LGAs), and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The announcement was made on Tuesday by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, who said the luncheon was designed to recognise and motivate public servants who have distinguished themselves through exceptional performance.
According to Akosile, five senior civil servants emerged winners of brand new cars through a raffle draw, while 94 other senior officers received N1 million each. In the junior category, five staff members were awarded N5 million each, and 73 others received N500,000 apiece.
In addition to the awards, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the promotion of Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, Director-General of the Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), to the rank of Permanent Secretary. He also presented N10 million to staff of the office in recognition of their role in elevating Lagos State’s profile both nationally and internationally.
Addressing the awardees, the governor described the initiative as a deliberate policy to reward excellence and inspire consistency across the public service. He urged civil servants to remain committed to professionalism, integrity and high performance standards.
“The recognition of outstanding officers is a deliberate effort to reward excellence and encourage consistency in service delivery,” Sanwo-Olu said. “The achievements recorded across the state are products of collective effort, and public service remains central to effective governance and sustainable development.”
Earlier, the Lagos State Head of Service, Bode Agoro, disclosed that the 177 awardees were selected from 312 nominations submitted by various MDAs, following what he described as a rigorous and transparent evaluation process.
Agoro commended the governor for his unwavering support for the civil service and his commitment to the welfare of public servants. He also challenged workers across the state to demonstrate a high sense of responsibility, diligence and dedication to duty.
The luncheon marked the grand finale of activities commemorating the 2025 Public Service Week in Lagos State. Events during the week included medical screenings, fitness walks, donations to children living with disabilities, long-service awards, a public service lecture and talent competitions.
The awards underscore Lagos State’s ongoing efforts to motivate its workforce, institutionalise excellence in public service, and recognise individuals and teams whose contributions significantly advance governance and development initiatives across the state.
