The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed confidence that its participation in the ongoing nationwide electronic membership registration will record significant success, projecting a minimum of 350,000 registered members by the end of the exercise.
The national leadership of the APC recently flagged off the fresh registration across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The exercise, which is being conducted electronically, is designed to capture the personal details of both existing and prospective members into a centralised database to enhance internal management, planning, and electoral strategy.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Ibadan, the Oyo APC Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, said the party leadership and key stakeholders had successfully resolved initial challenges that delayed the commencement of the exercise in the state.
According to Sadare, logistical constraints and other operational issues initially hindered the rollout of the registration in Oyo, preventing the state from starting simultaneously with several other APC chapters nationwide. He noted, however, that the obstacles were promptly addressed through coordinated efforts by party leaders and stakeholders.
He commended party leaders for demonstrating the same level of commitment and organisational capacity earlier displayed during the Open Air Stakeholders’ Meetings held across the state’s 14 federal constituencies, stressing that Oyo APC’s reputation as a pacesetter had been fully restored.
“Barring unforeseen circumstances, our great party will boast of no fewer than 350,000 organic members by January 30. This strength will be strategically deployed to achieve our core objectives ahead of the 2027 general elections,” the statement said.
The party further recalled that it delivered 449,884 votes for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 presidential election in the state, expressing optimism that the figure would be increased by at least 40 per cent in the next election cycle.
Beyond presidential elections, the APC said it intends to leverage its projected population strength to mobilise voters and reclaim political power in Oyo State in 2027.
Meanwhile, the party appealed to residents across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State who are 18 years and above to take advantage of the ongoing registration. Prospective members were advised to visit designated registration centres with their National Identification Number (NIN), Permanent Voter Card (PVC), and other required personal details.
The APC noted that participation in the exercise would enable members to fully engage in party activities and demonstrate their commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of the Tinubu administration, which it said is already yielding positive results nationwide.
