Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State converged in Ogbomoso on Monday to mobilise party faithful and formally endorse President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.
The open-air meeting, held at Soun Ogunlola Hall in Oja’gbo, Ogbomoso, was organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors team and led by the former Senate Leader and party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Teslim Folarin.
Organisers said the mobilisation marked the commencement of a statewide outreach across Oyo’s seven geopolitical zones and 14 federal constituencies to consolidate grassroots support for the President and the APC ahead of the polls.
Speakers at the event were unanimous in urging unity and internal cohesion within the party, stressing that collective purpose and disciplined mobilisation were essential to electoral success in 2027. They described the endorsement as both a political statement and a rallying point for reconciliation among leaders and members.
In his keynote address, Senator Folarin charged party members to take the message of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the grassroots. He said informed party leaders had a responsibility to educate voters on what he described as the quality of leadership being offered by President Tinubu.
“Our mission here today is to demonstrate that Oyo State is fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda and to showcase the spirit of love and togetherness prevailing in our great party,” Folarin said.
“At the appropriate time, we will move into the nooks and crannies of the state to mobilise voters for the 2027 elections. We are confident it will be a total victory for the APC.”
Also speaking, former First Lady of Oyo State and ambassador-designate, Florence Ajimobi, called on members to sustain peace and unity. She said stakeholders had resolved to work together to secure President Tinubu’s re-election and reclaim the Agodi Government House for the APC in 2027.
A major highlight of the meeting was the formal endorsement of President Tinubu for a second term and the reception of hundreds of defectors from other political parties. The new entrants were drawn from Ogbomoso North, Ogbomoso South, Oriire, Ogo-Oluwa and Surulere local government areas.
Among prominent party leaders in attendance were Olayide Abas, Adebayo Adelabu, Iyiola Oladokun, Alake Adeyemo, Rauf Olaniyan, Abdulfatai Buhari, Sarafadeen Alli, Yunus Akintunde, Ayoade Adeseun, Sunday Dare, Hosea Agboola, Fatai Ibikunle, Akin Oke, Aderemi Oseni, Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, Akin Onigbinde, Olagunju Ojo, and Asimiyu Alarape, among others.
