The Nollywood film Oversabi Aunty, produced by popular actress and filmmaker Toyin Abraham, has been officially ranked as the fourth highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time in West Africa, marking a significant commercial milestone for the industry.

The announcement was made on Monday by the film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, via its official Instagram page. According to the distributor, Oversabi Aunty grossed an impressive N711.5 million within just 18 days of its cinema release, also emerging as the second highest-grossing film of the weekend.

In a celebratory post, FilmOne praised audiences across the region for the film’s success.

“West Africa, you showed up and showed out in an Oversabi way. Thank you for the love,” the distributor wrote. “In just 18 days, Oversabi Aunty grossed N711.5M, making it the 4th highest Nollywood film of all time in West Africa. This win is for all of us.”

The achievement places Oversabi Aunty ahead of several blockbuster Nollywood titles, including Battle on Buka Street and Omo Ghetto: The Saga, both produced by star actress Funke Akindele. The two films grossed over N660 million and N630 million respectively at the box office following their releases in 2022 and 2020.

Notably, Oversabi Aunty had already crossed the N380 million mark within its first 11 days in cinemas, signalling early momentum that has since translated into sustained box office dominance.

Industry observers say the film’s rapid commercial success further underscores Toyin Abraham’s growing influence as a bankable producer, as well as the continued appetite of West African audiences for locally produced, culturally resonant stories.
