Osun State has emerged as the leading state in Nigeria’s ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), recording the highest number of completed registrations in the latest figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to the commission’s update issued on Wednesday, a total of 2,449,475 voters have completed their registrations – combining both online and physical processes – since the exercise commenced on August 18, 2025. Of this number, 1,425,898 applicants finalised the online pre-registration stage, while 1,023,577 individuals completed their registration through physical capture at designated centres nationwide.

Osun led all states with 193,026 completed registrations, maintaining its strong showing since the beginning of the exercise. It was followed by Imo State with 144,209, Kano with 142,433, Sokoto with 132,584, and Lagos with 115,334.

Other states with significant turnout include Borno (112,226), the Federal Capital Territory (106,855), Kogi (97,012), Jigawa (95,543), and Zamfara (90,739).

Katsina followed with 87,661, while Kaduna posted 82,421. In the South-South and South-West, Delta recorded 79,495, Kebbi 77,721, Ogun 77,014, and Niger 73,745.

Oyo and Akwa Ibom registered 68,559 and 68,464, respectively, while Rivers recorded 63,621 completed registrations. Adamawa posted 52,381, followed by Kwara with 50,221 and Yobe with 49,766.

Benue recorded 46,802, Bayelsa 41,856, and Bauchi 37,749. Others include Ekiti (33,393), Gombe (32,890), Nasarawa (31,862), Ebonyi (29,102), Edo (27,602) and Plateau (25,301).

In the lower bracket, Taraba registered 18,731, followed by Enugu (17,234), Ondo (16,709), Cross River (15,339), and Abia (13,875).

INEC confirmed that Anambra State remains at zero, as registration activities are still suspended in line with Section 9(6) of the Electoral Act 2022, following the recently concluded governorship election in the state.

The commission noted that the exercise will continue until August 2026, with recent data showing increased participation across several northern states. INEC attributed this rise to intensified mobilisation efforts by community-based organisations, religious leaders and local authorities who have been actively encouraging eligible residents to register ahead of future elections.

Despite the surge in interest across various regions, the South-West—particularly Osun and Lagos—has consistently remained among the top performers in the nationwide registration tally.
