The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), on Wednesday paid an official visit to the headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in Abuja, where he renewed his diplomatic passport.
The revered traditional ruler was received by the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nandap, alongside members of the Service’s management team.
Details of the visit were contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the NIS Service Public Relations Officer, Akinsola Akinlabi, and signed at the Service’s headquarters in Abuja.
According to the statement, the Ooni used the occasion to commend the federal government’s leadership for ongoing reforms within the immigration system, particularly policies aimed at improving migration management, border governance and service delivery.
“He praised the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the leadership of the Nigeria Immigration Service for the transformative policies being implemented under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement read.
The NIS noted that the commendation reflects increasing public recognition of the federal government’s efforts to reposition the Service through institutional reforms and modernisation initiatives.
In recent months, the Nigeria Immigration Service has rolled out a series of reforms under the supervision of the Ministry of Interior, including the digitalisation of passport services, enhanced border surveillance, and the restructuring of migration management processes, all aimed at improving efficiency, transparency and national security.
