According to a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, on Sunday, the operation was in response to a distress call received by the Police Control Room on Saturday, January 24, at about 9:45 a.m.

Jimoh further stated that four men – Adesola Emiloye, 45; Jimoh Akinlolu, 35; Ebenezer Oloro, 43; and another individual whose identity has yet to be confirmed – were ambushed and abducted by two armed men while working at a site in the Eleyewo area.

Upon receiving the report, the command immediately deployed operatives from its tactical teams to the location. The swift response, according to the PPRO led to the successful rescue of two of the victims, while their motorcycles were also recovered from the scene.

He said intensive efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining captives and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

Reaffirming the command’s stance on security, the police spokesperson stressed that Ondo State would not serve as a haven for criminal elements, adding that perpetrators would always be identified, tracked, and brought to justice.

Jimoh also revealed that the Commissioner of Police commended the strong inter-agency collaboration between the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, noting that the partnership has strengthened coordinated crime prevention efforts across the state.
