The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Idris Nasiru, for allegedly operating an illegal clinic in Ore, the headquarters of Ore/Odigbo Local Government Area.

The arrest was confirmed on Sunday by the command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, who said the suspect was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the police surveillance team.

The operation, according to him, forms part of intensified efforts to dismantle medical criminal networks across Ondo State.

Jimoh disclosed that a search of the suspect’s shop uncovered several medical items, including injection needles, medical drips, bandages and other assorted kits commonly used in clinical settings.

He added that a further search conducted based on a duly signed search warrant led to the recovery of used injection bottles, needles and syringes at Nasiru’s residence

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was being operated illegally,” the police spokesperson stated.

He noted that the suspect has made useful statements while in custody and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.

Jimoh also said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Adebowale Lawal, has urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to support the command’s efforts in combating crime and criminality.

He advised members of the public to exercise caution when seeking medical services, warning against patronising unlicensed practitioners who pose serious risks to public health.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating medical-related crimes in all forms across Ondo State, assuring residents that perpetrators would be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
