The Ogun State Government has reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on gender-based violence, child abuse and exploitation, pledging stricter enforcement, coordinated prosecution and decisive punishment from 2026.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, made the declaration on Friday in Abeokuta during the ministry’s annual training, award and thanksgiving programme.

Warning that the coming year would be particularly unforgiving for offenders, Adeleye said perpetrators would be exposed and prosecuted without fear or favour.
“Next year, there will be no hiding place for those who abuse children, women or vulnerable persons,” she stated.

According to the commissioner, the ministry’s 2026 agenda will be anchored on results-driven governance, citizen-centred service delivery and stronger inter-agency collaboration to ensure effective justice delivery.

She explained that policies would prioritise prevention, early intervention, survivor support and accountability mechanisms capable of producing measurable and sustainable social protection outcomes.

Reviewing the ministry’s performance in 2025, Adeleye attributed recorded successes to purposeful leadership, strong political will and a clearly defined reform agenda.

She commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for providing an enabling environment that promotes social inclusion, protects vulnerable groups and strengthens institutional effectiveness across the state.

The commissioner also acknowledged the contributions of development partners, noting that their support had significantly improved technical capacity, professionalism and accountability within the ministry.

Reaffirming the state’s commitment to recognising excellence in public service, Adeleye described staff recognition as a critical driver of productivity, morale and sustainable governance.

She said the annual programme served as a platform to review policies, build staff capacity and celebrate outstanding performance, with women empowerment and child protection remaining central priorities.

She added that a two-day strategic training session was organised as part of the programme, while awards were presented to staff members for excellence, innovation, discipline and dedication to duty.
