The Ogun State Government has declared that social welfare activist Adetoun Onajobi, widely known as Just Adetoun, has gone into hiding, while a medical doctor accused of issuing a forged medical report to shield her from arrest has been remanded in prison.

The government confirmed that the Ogun State Police Command has filed a six-count charge against the activist, who is currently at large, following a petition submitted by the state. The disclosure was made on Monday in a statement posted on the government’s official X handle by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN.

According to the statement, the dispute escalated after Nigerian-born British boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a road accident in Ogun State in December 2025. In a series of viral videos, Onajobi alleged that the state lacked any functional emergency ambulance service and accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of neglecting public welfare.

“She falsely claimed that there was no ambulance service anywhere in Ogun State and accused the Governor of being in Ghana partying and impregnating women instead of attending to the welfare of the boxer,” the statement read.

Ogungbade described the allegations as false, malicious and potentially dangerous, stressing that the state operates multiple emergency response and ambulance services. He warned that misinformation of such nature could discourage residents from seeking urgent medical help.

Following the publications, the state petitioned the police, alleging violations of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015. The police invited Onajobi on January 2, 2026, asking her to report on January 5. She allegedly failed to honour the invitation.

“Despite boasting that she had evidence to substantiate her claims, she failed to honour the police invitation and went into hiding,” Ogungbade said.

While allegedly evading arrest, the activist released another video claiming she was medically unfit to appear before investigators. Her lawyer subsequently forwarded a medical report, purportedly issued by a Lagos-based doctor, to the police.

However, investigations reportedly revealed that the document was fabricated. The Attorney General said the doctor later confessed that he neither met nor examined Onajobi, contrary to the contents of the report.

“He has been arrested, charged, and remanded for fraudulent medical documentation and obstruction of justice,” the statement added.

Ogungbade further questioned the activist’s credibility, noting that she remains at large. He also cited alleged previous misconduct, including claims that she once harassed a woman sweeping an estate in Lagos and unlawfully filmed and shared images of the woman’s underage child on social media.

Meanwhile, PUNCH Online had earlier reported that the police confirmed inviting Onajobi based on a petition to aid investigations into her online accusations against the governor.

In the controversial videos, Onajobi accused the governor of prioritising social events over governance and alleged that the state purchased SUVs for local government chairmen in December 2025 while failing to provide functional ambulances.
