The Muslim Community of Oyo State has commended Governor Oluseyi Makinde for the recent cabinet reshuffle that led to the appointment of Professor Musibau Babatunde as the new Secretary to the Oyo State Government.
The commendation followed the cabinet changes announced on Monday, January 5, as part of Governor Makinde’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and improve policy coordination in the state.
In a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, and Secretary-General, Alhaji Murisiku Abidemi Siyanbade, the Muslim Community described the elevation of Prof. Babatunde as timely, merit-based, and reflective of his proven competence in public service.
Professor Babatunde, who until his new appointment served as Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, was praised as a seasoned academic and technocrat with expertise in Energy Economics, International Economics, and Macroeconomics.
According to the group, his tenure at the budget ministry demonstrated diligence, professionalism, and a strong grasp of economic planning critical to the state’s development agenda.
The Muslim Community noted that Governor Makinde’s decision underscored his reputation as a perceptive and performance-driven leader, capable of identifying and rewarding excellence within his cabinet.
It described Babatunde as “a round peg in a round hole,” expressing confidence that he would bring clarity, coordination and efficiency to the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
While appreciating the governor for the appointment, the group also congratulated Professor Babatunde on what it termed an “enviable and well-earned” elevation, praying for divine guidance and success as he assumes the strategic role.
The statement concluded with goodwill messages, urging the new SSG to sustain his record of service and contribute meaningfully to effective governance and inclusive development in Oyo State.
