State APC says ADC lacks structure to criticise Tinubu’s leadership

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC)’s recent criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing the opposition party’s remarks as an “infantile rant” unworthy of serious attention.

The ADC had accused President Tinubu of abandoning governance for early political manoeuvring, citing the distribution of vehicles purportedly linked to his re-election efforts. The party further charged the President to step aside if he could no longer effectively manage the country, especially amid recurring security challenges.

In a statement issued on Friday, the spokesman of the Lagos APC, Mogaji Seye Oladejo, condemned the ADC’s comments, arguing that a party with negligible political weight had no moral standing to lecture a sitting President on governance.

Oladejo said it was ironic that “a party that cannot manage a ward wants to manage the nation,” adding that the ADC’s criticism stemmed from a fundamental misunderstanding of leadership.

“For clarity, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is governing Nigeria, not campaigning. But we understand why the ADC is confused: leadership is a language they neither understand nor speak,” he said.

He described the ADC’s posture as political theatre, noting that it was “nothing short of political comedy for a party that cannot win a councillorship election in its own backyard to accuse the President of early campaigns.”

Oladejo stressed that the ruling party remained focused on steering the country through its challenges and insisted that the opposition’s remarks were a desperate attempt to gain visibility.

“When a party has no structure, no ideas, no national footprint, and no future, the only option left is to bark at every moving shadow in the hope of getting noticed,” he added.

He advised the ADC to avoid mistaking its own political insignificance for a national crisis, asserting that President Tinubu remained committed to delivering on his mandate.
