Olajuyin, who hails from Ikere Ekiti in the Ekiti South Senatorial District, was affirmed through a consensus arrangement during the party’s governorship primary held on Saturday. The confirmation was announced in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday.
According to the LP State Chairman, Odunayo Okunade, the exercise followed due process and was conducted peacefully in the presence of delegates, party executives, representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and security agencies.
Okunade praised the emergence of Olajuyin, describing him as a reputable medical expert with over 30 years of professional experience. “Being a renowned medical expert with over three decades of experience, we are confident he will bring his administrative and professional expertise to bear in transforming Ekiti State,” he said.
He commended the peaceful and transparent nature of the congress, noting that it was free from violence, intimidation, or manipulation. “The peaceful conduct of the congress has demonstrated that the future of the state is secure with the Labour Party at the helm of affairs,” Okunade added.
The party chairman also expressed appreciation to INEC, the Department of State Services (DSS), the police, and members of the media for their presence and support throughout the primary.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Olajuyin described his emergence as a reflection of unity and readiness within the party to take over governance in the state. “The peaceful atmosphere that characterised our primary is a testament to the Labour Party’s preparedness and resolve to lead Ekiti come 2026,” he said.
