Olajide Adediran, a prominent aspirant for the 2027 Lagos governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has dismissed ongoing speculations regarding the selection of a preferred candidate for the upcoming primary election.
In a statement released Saturday through his spokesperson, Gbenga Ogunleye, the aspirant, popularly known as “Jandor”, addressed rumours suggesting that party leaders and chieftains had already anointed a candidate ahead of next month’s scheduled primaries.
Adediran emphasised his unwavering commitment to democratic principles, party supremacy, and a transparent electoral process.
He noted that his position aligns with the official stance of the Lagos State APC leadership, which maintains that no aspirant has been pre-selected and that all contenders will participate in a credible primary.
While actively strengthening his grassroots structures and engaging with party members, Adediran signaled his readiness to uphold party discipline.
He stated that should the party leadership decide to adopt a consensus candidate, he is prepared to align with that collective decision.
Furthermore, Adediran cautioned party members against misinterpreting the promotional activities of specific individuals or political groups as the official position of the party or its leadership.
“When the party and our leader speak, I am sure no one will do otherwise,” the statement concluded.
