The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has formally dissociated itself from Fuji music legend and Olori Omooba of Ijebuland, Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, declaring that he is not a member of the royal lineage and therefore not eligible to contest for the Awujale stool.
The clarification, issued on Thursday, comes in the wake of growing controversy over the musician’s bid to succeed the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, who died on July 13, 2025, after a 65-year reign.
K1 had earlier submitted a letter to the head of the Fusengbuwa family, signalling his intention to vie for the throne and asserting that he belonged to the Jadiara unit of the ruling house.
However, evidence has since emerged contradicting his claim. A letter signed by the late Oba Adetona at the time he conferred the title of Olori Omooba on the artiste reportedly identified him as a member of the Fidipote Ruling House, not Fusengbuwa.
The development has stirred debate across Ijebuland, with many questioning whether a prince from Fidipote could aspire to a royal stool reserved exclusively for Fusengbuwa descendants.
Amid the growing dispute, the Jadiara unit submitted a petition to the Fusengbuwa chairman and the Ogun State Government, asserting unequivocally that K1 does not belong to their lineage.
Speaking at Agunsenbi Ule Nla, the ancestral home of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, the spokesperson of the nomination committee, Omoba Abiodun Adesanya Ogidan, reaffirmed the family’s position. “Wasiu Ayinde is not our family member,” he declared.
According to Ogidan, a thorough review of genealogical records and consultations with all segments of the ruling house, including Jadiara, confirmed that the Fuji musician has no ancestral ties to the family. He added that the Olori-Ebi of the unit K1 referenced had not endorsed him.
Ogidan warned that admitting individuals without legitimate lineage would amount to introducing “fake people” into the royal bloodline. “History cannot be rewritten to include outsiders,” he stressed.
He further clarified that the official nomination process had already closed and that what K1 submitted was merely a family lineage form, not a valid nomination for the Awujale contest.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House is expected to unveil the list of officially nominated princes and princesses on December 15, 2025, at Bisrod Hall, GRA, Ijebu-Ode, in accordance with established succession procedures.
