The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has announced designated pick-up points for its Go-Cashless cards as it moves to enforce a cashless transaction system across airports nationwide from March 1.

In a statement issued on Friday in Lagos, FAAN’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, said members of the public could obtain the Go-Cashless cards with immediate effect at all FAAN commercial offices and airport access gates across the country.

He further disclosed that the cards would also be available at selected branches of Fidelity Bank Plc beginning March 16, expanding access for airport users and other stakeholders.

Agbebire explained that the initiative aligns with a federal government directive mandating all ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) to adopt a cashless payment system.

The directive, he noted, is designed to strengthen accountability and streamline financial operations within public institutions.

According to him, the transition to a cashless regime is expected to enhance transparency, curb revenue leakages and improve the traceability of transactions across government operations, particularly within the aviation sector.

He reiterated FAAN’s commitment to full compliance with the directive and appealed for public understanding and cooperation during the transition period.

He also clarified that the Go-Cashless cards would continue to be available at designated locations even after the March 1 enforcement deadline.

The authority assured airport users that the new system would facilitate faster, safer and more convenient transactions at airports nationwide, marking a significant step toward modernising financial processes within Nigeria’s aviation industry.
