The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced an upward adjustment in the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), increasing it from ₦699 per litre to ₦799 per litre, following the conclusion of the recent festive period.
Consequently, the refinery disclosed that petrol will now be sold at ₦839 per litre at retail outlets operated by MRS Oil Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Monday evening, the refinery explained that the price adjustment reflects a return to sustainable market pricing after a temporary intervention aimed at cushioning Nigerians during heightened festive spending.
“With the festive period concluded, PMS prices have been modestly realigned to sustainable levels to support long-term market stability and affordability. Under the current alignment, the PMS gantry price is ₦799 per litre, while MRS retail outlets are selling at ₦839 per litre,” the statement said.
The refinery reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring market stability and maintaining uninterrupted nationwide supply of petrol. It recalled that during the just-concluded festivities, it deliberately absorbed significant costs to stabilise prices, marking the second consecutive festive season in which it intervened in the national interest.
According to the statement, similar support was provided in 2024 through logistics interventions and again in 2025 via a direct price reduction to promote affordability and calm in the downstream market.
However, the refinery expressed concern that despite the price reduction, many filling stations failed to adjust pump prices accordingly, thereby depriving Nigerians of the intended relief.
Commenting on current operations, the Chief Executive Officer of Dangote Petroleum Refinery, David Bird, said the facility continues to supply approximately 50 million litres of PMS daily to the domestic market, with nationwide evacuation and distribution running without disruption.
He noted that the refinery’s flexible design allows it to process a broad range of crude oil and intermediate feedstocks, ensuring uninterrupted PMS supply even during scheduled maintenance.
“As a domestic producer, Dangote Petroleum Refinery continues to shield the Nigerian market from import-related volatility and external supply disruptions, while remaining a stabilising force in the downstream petroleum sector,” Bird said.
He added that the refinery remains focused on delivering energy security, price stability and long-term value for Nigerians.
