A Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja has ordered the remand of Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso, along with two others, Qudus Egbere and Sola Edun Tomiwa, at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over allegations of murder and involvement in an unlawful society.

Justice Oyindamola Ogala issued the remand order after the trio were arraigned by the Lagos State Government on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, murder, and membership of an unlawful society.

According to the prosecution led by Mr. A.O. Azeez, the offences contravene Section 223 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, and the Unlawful Societies and Cultism (Prohibition) Law of Lagos State, 2021. The amended charge was filed on November 10, 2025.

During the arraignment, defence counsel, Olanrewaju Ajanaku and M.D. Obadeyi, did not oppose the proceedings, as the defendants pleaded not guilty to all counts.

Following the plea, counsel to the second defendant sought permission for his client to remain on administrative bail. The court, however, declined the oral request and directed that a formal bail application be filed.

The prosecution alleged that Akinwande, Egbere, and others at large conspired to murder one Bolanle Yusuf on July 31, 2024, at about 11:00 a.m., using a machete and a gun at Moshalashi Street, Mushin, Lagos. They were also accused of belonging to the Eiye Confraternity and of conspiring to commit the murder of one Yusuf Ramadan at the same location.

Prosecution counsel Azeez requested a trial date, and Justice Ogala adjourned the matter until January 19, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
