The cleric warns that craze for foreign product ultimately fuels unemployment in the country

An Ibadan-based clergy, Prophet Gideon Owoseni, has identified the craze among Nigerians for foreign products as the main reason for rising unemployment in the country.

The visioner and founder of the African Jerusalem Christian Ministry made the observation in Ibadan at the weekend during the inauguration of Pool of Bethesda, a spiritual healing spot situated within the premises of the Ministry.

How lack of patronage by citizens kill indigenous companies

According to the cleric, most of the liquidated Nigerian industries failed because of a lack of patronage from the citizens who prefer the imported version of their products. This, he added, is adding to the nation’s socio-economic woes as it impedes her growth and development.

Prophet Owoseni urged Nigerians to develop an interest in their indigenous products, adding that none of the developed societies in today’s global economy would have attained that status if their citizens refused to consume what they produce.

Pool of Bethesda, a divine instruction

He said he was instructed by God to replicate the “Pool of Bethesda” during one of his pilgrimages to Israel.

“The Pool of Bethesda is not the only project that we have. There are other spiritual sites. People all over the world have been coming here for spiritual assistance and God has been so faithful.

“However, it is sad to note that many people prefer to travel to Israel in search of what is available in their own Country.

“This thing is applicable to other locally produced products in the country. That is why the issue of capital flight will continue to be at the forefront of the economic discourse.

The Cleric, thereby, stresses the need for a reset of mindset to boost our economy.

A divine representation of healing, hope and faithful

Earlier in his goodwill message, a member of the National Assembly, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Sharafadeen Alli, had described the commissioning of the “Pool of Bethesda” as not only a physical accomplishment, but a divine representation of healing, hope and faith.

“The Pool of Bethesda, as we know, is a symbol of miraculous healing and divine intervention, and replicating this in our land speaks to the unwavering faith and vision of this Ministry.

“I commend the Founder, Spiritual Head, and all members of the African Jerusalem Christian Ministry for their commitment to uplifting lives, both spiritually and physically.

“This remarkable project will undoubtedly serve as a place of solace, inspiration, and transformation for many who will come here in search of divine healing and guidance.

“I encourage all of us to reflect on the deeper meaning of this sacred pool. It is not just water, but a symbol of our faith and the grace of God that flows freely to all who seek it.

“May this pool serve as a beacon of hope, touching lives and renewing the faith of countless people in our community and beyond,” the senator said.
