The Awujale Kingmakers Council has announced the cancellation of a planned meet-and-greet earlier scheduled to hold at the Aafin Awujale in Ijebu-Ode, directing instead that all Awujale nominees report to the office of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Ijebu-Ode by 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

The directive was conveyed in a formal letter dated January 20, 2026, and addressed to the leadership of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, including its Chairman, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi; Deputy Chairman, Otunba Dokun Ajidagba; and Vice Chairman, Prof. Fassy Yusuf.

According to the communication, all nominees vying for the Awujale stool are required to present themselves at the DSS office located along NTA Road, beside the State Psychiatric Hospital, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode, by 11:00 a.m. prompt. The council stressed that the new directive supersedes the earlier arrangement at the palace.

The council expressed regret over the abrupt change and apologised for any inconvenience it might cause affected parties, urging strict compliance and punctuality from all nominees.

The letter was signed by the Secretary of the Awujale Afobaje Council, Chief Ayotunde Ola Odulaja, who underscored the importance of adherence to the instruction as part of the ongoing traditional processes.

“This development necessitated the cancellation of the meet-and-greet earlier scheduled for this morning at the Aafin Awujale,” the letter stated. “Accordingly, the Awujale nominees are hereby directed to report to the Department of State Services (DSS) office located along NTA Road, beside the State Psychiatric Hospital, off Igbeba Road, Ijebu-Ode. Time: 11:00 a.m. prompt.”

The development comes amid sensitive traditional procedures surrounding Awujale-related nominations in Ijebuland. As of the time of filing this report, details regarding the purpose or expected outcome of the DSS engagement had not been disclosed.
