Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has renewed his call for unity among members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), urging federal lawmakers from the state to place peace, stability and development above partisan interests.
Aiyedatiwa made the appeal during a dinner with the state’s nine members of the House of Representatives held in Akure on Friday evening. The meeting, according to a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the executive and the legislature while fostering internal cohesion within the APC ahead of the party’s forthcoming congresses.
The governor stressed that the overall progress of Ondo State should be seen as a shared responsibility requiring collective commitment from all elected officials, regardless of political leanings or personal ambitions.
He noted that sustained cooperation between federal and state representatives was critical to maintaining stability and accelerating development across the state.
Discussions at the meeting also focused on aligning federal and state development priorities to ensure that Ondo State continues to attract and benefit from federal interventions and projects under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed that his administration remains focused on governance rather than political rivalries. “Our administration will continue to prioritise the development of the state and the welfare of our people over politics,” he said. “This collaboration is a huge win for Ondo State, as it is the kind of synergy required to sustain the momentum of development and stability in our Sunshine State.”
Speaking on behalf of the lawmakers, the member representing Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency, Derin Adesida, expressed appreciation to the governor for convening the meeting and commended him for what he described as visible developmental strides across the state.
Adesida pledged the loyalty and support of the federal lawmakers to the governor, assuring him that they would set aside political differences and continue to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ondo State and the growth of the APC.
The lawmakers present at the meeting were Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South-West/Akoko South-East), Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West), Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Festus Adefiranye (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo), and Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).
